Traitor

Sunt o pasăre captivă într-o colivie. Sunt un străin în propria mea casă, în propria mea viață. Vreau să evadez, să plec, să mă regăsesc. Vreau să fiu eu însumi, să râd atunci când vreau, să spun ce gândesc, dar nu pot. Sunt legat la gură, iar oamenii din jurul meu sunt paznicii închisorii pe care o numesc viață. Vreau să scap. Trebuie.

Traitor este producția prin care Moveo Dance Company deschide și în acest an stagiunea de dans contemporan DINAM 2023 a Asociației Unfold Motion. Acest performance a adus în atenția publicului condiția omului damnat, incapabil să se integreze într-o societate fără libertate de exprimare.

Între cadrele de fier ale unui cub uriaș, dansatorii au reprezentat prin mișcări originale, individuale și de grup defecte umane precum falsitatea, răutatea, superficialitatea, ipocrizia. Victima acestora a fost „Trădătorul”, arătat cu degetul, certat și capturat de fiecare dată când încerca să evadeze.

Întreaga coregrafie a fost compusă dintr-un mix de mișcări lente în care cei trei artiști s-au contopit pentru a forma un întreg. În acele momente, prizonierul  încearcă din răsputeri să coexiste cu cele două entități malefice. La polul opus stau bătăliile duse pe ritmuri sacadate și stridente. Personajele interpretate de dansatori s-au dominat reciproc, s-au învins și au reluat iarăși controlul. Cele două fete se prind de ostaticul lor ca două fiare sălbatice și încep un ritual prin care vor să îl separe de propria voință.

Cu ultimele puteri, Trădătorul iese din captivitate și, într-o lumină divină, își întâlnește sinele, neîngrădit, necenzurat și liber cugetător. Acesta își apără, cu ultimele puteri, singura parte din el care a rămas cu adevărat liberă. El își sacrifică trupul, partea materială, pentru ca spiritul să nu îi rămână captiv pe vecie.

Fumul și muzica stranie, ritualică, mi-au dat fiori și m-au făcut să trăiesc mai intens momentele în care credeam într-o eliberare. Abisul de voci și amestecul de onomatopee de pe parcursul acestui performance au fost atât de puternice, încât mi-au rămas în minte și după încheierea spectacolului.

În final, rămânem cu o imagine în care ne-am aflat la un moment dat, cu o situație din cauza căreia am suferit, dar și cu o lecție învățată. Nu încercați să rămâneți acolo unde nu evoluați. Mergeți unde vă simțiți apreciați, iubiți și împliniți. Acolo este locul vostru, acolo vă așteaptă oamenii potriviți.

I am Alex

Sunt rău, sunt bun, sunt manipulator, sensibil, frustrat sau anxios? Poate am câte puțin din fiecare… Asta înseamnă că sunt un Alex? Dar cine este Alex?

„I am Alex” este cel de-al doilea spectacol susținut de Moveo Dance Company în seara debutului stagiunii Dinam 2023, organizată de Asociația Unfold Motion. Trupa de dans din Malta a adus în fața publicului din Timișoara un spectacol care ne invită la introspecție, la acceptarea naturii umane imperfecte, ca în final să descoperim adevărul despre propria noastră persoană.

Performance-ul este un mix de sentimente și contradicții, de dorințe dominatoare și nevoi umane precum apropierea fizică și apartenența. Astfel, toate aceste caracteristici îl alcătuiesc pe Alex, personaj invocat pe tot parcursul dansului. El devine un „paria” pentru celelalte persoane care îi asociază numele cu toate lucrurile negative din jur.

Momentele artistice traduc prin pași de dans dorința de a-i domina pe cei din jurul nostru. Dansul devine un joc al puterii în care păpușarul șef decide soarta celorlalți, îi ghidează, se joacă cu mințile și corpurile lor după bunul plac. Din întuneric se aude o voce stridentă care anunță prezența în scenă a lui Alex, sub forma frustrării și anxietății. Dansul se transformă într-o luptă în care performerii se sabotează și se trântesc unii pe alții la pământ, învârtindu-se într-un cerc plin de suișuri și coborâșuri cu scopul de a-l sabota pe cel care reușește să se ridice și să devină cea mai bună versiune a sa.

Anxietatea este dezvăluită de o coregrafie emoționantă de grup. Muzica cu tonalitate stridentă este înlocuită de acordurile elegante, fine și sensibile ale unei viori. Pe aceste ritmuri, dansatorii se contopesc și merg împreună pe un drum comun. Legătura nu rezistă, iar durerea covârșitoare a pierderii celor dragi și lipsa apartenenței aduc în scenă anxietatea. Prin mișcări executate în sincron, cele trei piese de puzzle încearcă să se regăsească, însă acest lucru nu mai e posibil.

Elementele de recuzită nu sunt prezente pe scenă, însă jocul de lumini a amplificat semnificația pașilor de dans. Roșul, culoare dominantă, a accentuat ideea jocului de putere și a manipulării. Lumina caldă și difuză a oferit un moment de calm, de liniște și de emoție, alături de sunetul dulce al viorii.

Pe lângă coregrafie, tehnicile de actorie, mimica și jocul de rol au fost interpretate foarte bine de către performeri. Ei au reușit să transmită publicului faptul că natura umană este imperfectă, că toți putem greși.

Întreg spectacolul ne-a purtat, fără ca noi să ne dăm seama, prin propriile noastre minți, ne-a răscolit cele mai adânci gânduri și cele mai mari frici. Am realizat că cel puțin o dată în viață am trăit sentimentul frustrării, am vrut putere și să deținem controlul asupra altora. Și poate de și mai multe ori am simțit ce înseamnă pierderea celor dragi, singurătatea, anxietatea…

Toate aceste elemente îl alcătuiesc pe Alex. Cine e Alex? Cred că știm deja răspunsul…

Traitor

I’m a captive bird in a cage. I am a stranger in my own home, in my own life. I want to escape, to leave, to find myself. I want to be myself, to laugh when I want to, to say what I think, but I can’t. I am gagged and the people around me are the guards of the prison I call life. I want to escape. I have to.

Traitor is the production through which Moveo Dance Company opens the DINAM 2023 Contemporary Dance Season of the Unfold Motion Association this year. This performance brought to the attention of the public the condition of the damned man, unable to integrate into a society without freedom of expression.

Between the iron frames of a huge cube, the dancers represented through original, individual and group movements human flaws such as falsehood, malice, superficiality, hypocrisy. Their victim was the „Traitor”, pointed at, scolded and captured every time he tried to escape.

The entire choreography was composed of a mix of slow movements where the three artists merged to form a whole. In those moments, the prisoner tries his best to coexist with the two evil entities. At the opposite pole are the battles fought on jerky and shrill rhythms. The characters played by the dancers dominated each other, defeated each other and regained control again. The two girls cling to their hostage like two wild beasts and begin a ritual by which they want to separate him from his own will.

With the last of his strength, the Traitor emerges from captivity and, in a divine light, meets himself, unfettered, uncensored and free-thinking. He defends, with the last of his strength, the only part of him that has remained truly free. He sacrifices his body, the material part, so that his spirit does not remain captive forever.

The smoke and the strange, ritualistic music gave me chills and made me live more intensely the moments when I believed in a release. The abyss of voices and the mixture of onomatopoeia during this performance were so powerful that they stayed in my mind even after the show ended.

In the end, we are left with an image of where we were at a given moment, with a situation that caused us to suffer, but also with a lesson learned. Don’t try to stay where you are not evolving. Go where you feel appreciated, loved and fulfilled. That’s where you belong, that’s where the right people are waiting for you.

I am Alex

Am I mean, good, manipulative, sensitive, frustrated or anxious? Maybe I have a little bit of each… Does that mean I’m an Alex? But who is Alex?

„I am Alex” is the second show performed by Moveo Dance Company on the opening night of the Dinam 2023 season, organized by the Unfold Motion Association. The dance company from Malta brought to the audience in Timișoara a performance that invites us to introspect, to accept the imperfect human nature, so that in the end we discover the truth about our own person.

The performance is a mix of feelings and contradictions, of domineering desires and human needs such as physical closeness and belonging. Thus, all these characteristics make up Alex, a character invoked throughout the dance. He becomes a „pariah” to other people who associate his name with all the negative things around.

The artistic moments translate through dance steps the desire to dominate those around us. The dance becomes a game of power where the master puppeteer decides the fate of the others, guides them, plays with their minds and bodies as he pleases. From the darkness comes a shrill voice announcing Alex’s presence on the stage in the form of frustration and anxiety. The dance turns into a battle where the performers sabotage and knock each other to the ground, spinning in a circle full of ups and downs with the aim of sabotaging the one who manages to rise and become the best version of it.

The anxiety is revealed by a moving group choreography. The shrill music is replaced by the elegant, delicate and sensitive chords of a violin. On these rhythms, the dancers merge and walk together on a common path. The bond does not last, and the overwhelming pain of losing loved ones and the lack of belonging bring anxiety to the stage. Through synchronized movements, the three pieces of the puzzle try to find each other, but this is no longer possible.

The props are not present on the stage, but the play of lights amplified the meaning of the dance steps. Red, the dominant color, accentuated the idea of power play and manipulation. The warm diffused light provided a moment of calm, tranquility and excitement, along with the sweet sound of the violin.

In addition to the choreography, the acting techniques, mimicry and role playing were performed very well by the dancers. They succeeded in conveying to the public that human nature is imperfect, that we can all make mistakes.

The entire show carried us, without us realizing it, through our own minds, stirred up our deepest thoughts and greatest fears. I realized that at least once in my life I experienced the feeling of frustration, wanting power and control over others. And maybe even more times I felt what it means to lose loved ones, loneliness, anxiety…

All these elements make up Alex. Who is Alex? I think we already know the answer…
